Adele Jergens

Adele Jergens (November 26, 1917 – November 22, 2002) was an American film actress. Jergens worked as a model and chorus girl, including being an understudy to burlesque queen Gypsy Rose Lee, before landing a movie contract with Columbia Pictures in 1944. Some of her most memorable movies are “Down to Earth” (1947) starring Rita Hayworth, “The Dark Past” (1948) starring William Holden, and “Ladies of the Chorus” (1948) in which Jergens played Marilyn Monroe’s mother despite the fact that she was only 9 years older than Monroe.

Adele Jergens with husband Glenn Langan in 1950. The couple remained married for over forty years until his death in 1991.
