Villain: Barbara Stanwyck as Phyllis Dietrichson in the film noir thriller “Double Indemnity” (1944 – Paramount). Barbara Stanwyck was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of the beautiful, shrewd, predatory, and dissatisfied femme fatale housewife who convinces a smart-talking insurance agent Walter Neff (Fred MacMurray) to murder her unsuspecting, boring husband so they could share ‘double indemnity’ insurance proceeds.
