Claire Dodd appeared in sixty films from 1930 – 1942

Claire Dodd (December 29, 1911 – November 23, 1973) was an American film actress who appeared in almost sixty films in twelve years from 1930 to 1942. Her films include “Whoopee!” (1930), “Footlight Parade” (1933), “Roberta” (1935), “Don’t Bet on Blondes” (1935) and “In the Navy” (1941). Dodd also twice played secretary Della Street to Warren William’s Perry Mason, in “The Case of the Curious Bride” (1935) and “The Case of the Velvet Claws” (1936). She retired from acting and married her second husband H. Brand Cooper in 1942. They had four children together, a daughter and three sons. Claire Dodd died at her home in Beverly Hills, California from cancer, aged 61. She is buried in the Brand Family Cemetery on the grounds of the Brand Library and Art Center in Glendale, California.
