George Arliss the first British actor to win an Academy Award

 

George Arliss (April 10, 1868 – February 5, 1946) was an English actor, author, playwright and filmmaker who found success in the United States. George Arliss won an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his role in “Disraeli” (1929) becoming the first British actor to win an Academy Award.
