Shirley Jones starred in a number of well-known musicals

Shirley Jones (born March 31, 1934) a stage, film and television actress and singer. In her six decades of show business, Shirley Jones starred as wholesome characters in a number of well-known musical films, such as “Oklahoma!” (1955), “Carousel” (1956), and “The Music Man” (1962). However it was for her role as a vengeful prostitute in “Elmer Gantry” (1960) that Shirley Jones won her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Jones’ other movies of note include “April Love” (1957), “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father” (1963), “Bedtime Story” (1964) and “Fluffy” (1965). With all her success in feature films though, Shirley Jones might be best remembered for her role as Shirley Partridge, the widowed mother of five children in the comedy television series “The Partridge Family” (1970–74).
